Big Brothers, Big Sisters is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that matches children with adult mentors.
Our target population includes children, 7-12 years of age, from the Victoria Capital Region.
We offer preventative matching programs designed to offer one-to-one mentorship with an adult volunteer to support, guide and enhance the child’s personal development.
The mandate of the organization is to make a difference in the lives of children by promoting their self-esteem, expanding their awareness of life’s opportunities, and providing them guidance and support through long term, one-to-one relationships with caring adult volunteers.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager is responsible for aspects of program delivery. This will include volunteer recruitment, screening, training, family support, and program development. The Mentor Coordinator is expected to build strong relationships with volunteers and families. The position requires flexible hours to include evenings and occasional weekends.
Qualifications and Requirements:
q University Degree in the human services field q Demonstrated leadership skills q Work experience in a non-profit child, youth and family serving agency q Has experience in: - Volunteer Management - Mentoring - Program development - Customer service - Computer skills q Reliable transportation and valid drivers License
