Lord, # {& q$ S; C+ w4 v& W4 j
having transformed5 A/ s' }/ l9 \, Y- L; d
sunshine and soil and water and seed,
1 D1 ^. B" N& E9 @3 n' J/ w7 ainto food upon which we are soon to feed, ; x* F5 ^6 R* q( }! Z+ S7 G
we thank you for life and we want to stay well, 8 H& q2 S4 H; i" E" y2 j
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
& l5 T. H# i0 KWe who came first and are ready to dine
3 x. T' x2 _) T. P% K" |thank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
( o r8 K( g4 ~9 t! r: w9 Sbut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
0 O! V. `/ V5 H6 V2 g: c" u$ b' pwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.4 a/ U. ^7 P" s& ?, f2 Y$ \# Z
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others 4 `. U% v/ R$ B( P: X* b8 M6 v
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.0 k* L+ K- l: I: S- o. Y

& y" J J e* v% H) A" v* GWe smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
- Q) t! K# w# R3 ]' \% c' w# A' |the aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
