Lord,
, j+ z4 B6 Q: Bhaving transformed D' M. d" ^& G0 M
sunshine and soil and water and seed,
% S* @- ^) H# winto food upon which we are soon to feed, 6 v8 d! G; L/ B- U9 b( r
we thank you for life and we want to stay well, 0 Z4 O+ t, {( _1 B
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
' _% D6 x3 H, RWe who came first and are ready to dine
. g8 w5 B% _8 P& Zthank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
% l) i# k- R3 \. i4 }but for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
0 e4 X- o2 j% k' q& V1 u$ xwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.2 J+ P+ N K% i/ k8 j2 M
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others ; ?3 f8 q: z3 X' a' r% c
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.' Z+ @) j& W$ }, X) N( |
Now,5 Q! A/ L$ Q( i* O6 N% r
We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
$ C) E9 w0 o/ {; |, ~1 }the aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted ; q7 |+ t6 u1 C2 x8 i! V% l; f
