Lord, - W& K) W s8 k0 m
having transformed2 `2 I/ @0 f9 J% Z) ?$ ^: `
sunshine and soil and water and seed,# h0 t/ ^- c' r6 S# c+ D9 @4 `6 ~
into food upon which we are soon to feed,
3 ^' [ k. O+ [we thank you for life and we want to stay well, # |- j- y; s" O; q& s7 w
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
% E& A- F- m ^We who came first and are ready to dine
+ a5 E0 ^5 g7 p% Pthank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
% Q( W" G% k% K1 n# t" _: @. ibut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
, w9 l8 n D" ~8 F6 b0 H* e( C4 W, bwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.
: @2 R# _0 ]' fInstead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others 1 @* i8 T" o" q$ @* |8 ]/ N- j5 R
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.
