International Baccalaureate Chinese Language A1 Teacher
Must be fluent in both oral and written Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese or, preferably, both)
Must have a background in, or a vast knowledge of, Chinese literature.
Must be able to dedicate 3 hours/week plus preparation time until June 2012 - preferred candidate will be able to stay until June 2013 (the program is two years long)
Preference given to candidates with teaching experience and a degree in Chinese Literature - experience with the IB program is not essential.
Must have sufficient fluency in English to communicate with co-ordinators and receive instruction in how to teach the IB program.
Must be legally entitled to work in British Columbia.
Program outline: Teach IB Chinese Language A1 course to native Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese speakers)
Prepare students to pass oral exams in February 2013 and to write their IB exam in May 2013.
The course is an intense study of all aspects of Chinese writing (history, style, rhetorical devices, themes/issues, etc) and the students will be expected to analyze and write and speak about the literature in depth.
The course is currently slated to be taught on Sunday afternoons for 3 hours but this may be changed to fit the schedule of the chosen candidate.
