假如你找中介（移民公司、代理等）办理移民申请手续，那么你要签署一份代理声明，也就是IMM5476B表， 这是移民用中介的标志，这个声明连同其他申请资料一起递交到移民局，移民局以后将直接和你的代理联系你的移民事务，所有的信件等也将寄到代理，由代理和你联系。
如果你没有签署这个声明，不管申请的形式是什么样的，都视为自己办理，移民局所有的信件、传真、邮件等直接寄发到你提供的地址。
关于中介（代理）的类型还有划分，大多数申请人都是找付费代理，加拿大对这类代理有一定的要求。
下面是使用代理的官方说明：
USE OF A REPRESENTATIVE (IMM 5476B)
Youmay prepare and prepare your application yourself, or by an individualwho provides such services for free (family members, friends,non-governmental and religious organizations, etc.), or you may decideto hire an authorized representative to do so. An authorizedrepresentative must be: an immigration consultant who is a member ofthe Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants, a lawyer who is amember of a Canadian Law Society, or a notary who is a member of theChambre des notaries du Québec.
All applications are treatedequally, regardless of whom it is submitted by. Anyone can apply on hisor her own without the assistance of a third party. Paying a thirdparty to help you does not mean your application will be approved orthat it will receive a preferential treatment. All applicationmaterials are provided by the Embassy free of charge.You MUST complete this form if you
- have paid an authorized representative to assist in the preparation of this application and immigration matters and/or
-you wish us to release information regarding your application tosomeone other than yourself. Be advised that, if and for as long as youhave designated a person to represent you, we will communicate onlywith that person. Canadian Privacy laws prevent the release ofinformation about your application unless written authorization isreceived. Information will only be release to Canadian citizens orpermanent residents. Please provide proof of your representative’sstatus in Canada.
Some persons have been victims of unscrupulous agents. Applicantsshould therefore be careful to investigate the reputation andqualifications of third parties who offer their services for a fee.
