我护照明年8月过期，但是我的study permit 今年11月就过期了， 我可以现在就去温哥华大使馆办新的护照吗？ 还是必须的从新办study permit，然后等到明年才能换护照啊？ 护照可以提前1年换吗？

没有特殊原因的话，护照只能提前半年更换，按照我的经验你只能先extend study permit先，然后明年三四月换护照后重新办study permit

I kind remember that there is a rule: that the expiration date can not be longer than the expiration date of your passport.

Which means you want to renew your passport first. I heard that if you talk to the people in the Chinese Consulate nicely and tell them that you will renew study permit afterwards and you need a new passport to get the full 3 years, they will let you renew it even before the 6 months limit.
