The Regional District of Nanaimo has a temporary employment opportunity for a GIS Technician in its Development Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Long Range Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and managing various projects using Community Viz software. The position will work closely with Planning staff and provide analytical and technical support for Long Range Planning projects. The position will also work closely with GIS Mapping to help build organizational capacity in the use of Community Viz.
Applicants must possess a Technical college certificate or diploma in Geographic Information Systems or equivalent technical training in ESRI GIS software plus 4 years prior job related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Technical knowledge and experience in ArcInfo, ArcView and Community Viz GIS application software, spreadsheets, relational database software, word processing and other technical skills are also required.
