As a Junior DB Developer with AbeBooks you will be a member of theSystems Database Group responsible for providing overall databasedevelopment and support with concentration in backend programming. Theresponsibilities of the position will be to develop, design, test,implement, and maintain complex custom software systems developed usingOracle, PL/SQL, SQL and various third party libraries. The DatabaseDeveloper will be responsible to properly maintain source code sets andnecessary technical documentations, and assist the lead DBA in overalldatabase maintenance.

Qualifications
Must Have:
- 2-3 years experience in Oracle
- Highly Proficient in SQL programming using PL/SQL
- Good Database Administration skills
- Strong communication skills
- Good understanding of client/server concepts and methodologies.
- Experience in patterns of Java application code calling database APIs
- Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent
Nice to have:
- TDD and Agile mind set.
- Experience with DB2, MS-SQL, MySQL
- JDBC Drivers
- DAO mapping apis e.g. Ibatis, Hibernate, custom, etc...
- Data Warehousing and OLAP
- Performance tuning, profiling...
- Database design, logical, physical Database version control, installation, archiving, upgrading
- Linux, Unix, Windows Server
- Exposure to C++ or Java as a front-end is desirable, but not required, Perl, other scripting languages
