单位里一个老外同事就要当爸爸了，我闲着没事在家给他写了这个note，他看了很喜欢，谢谢我告诉他这些有用的消息。我想这对所有的准父母或刚为人父母的朋友都会有所帮助，所以就贴上来了。因为是给老外同事写的，所以我用英语写。想偷懒，就直接cut and paste了。
Bottles: Dr Brown’s (图 1)
We tried about 4 different brands on the market at that time, and our son liked this bottle most because its special design really reduces the colic and gas. Our son looks so happy after each meal. The only thing I don't like this bottle is that the material or the paint they use to print on the surface of the bottle is really not good. After I used the bottles for a while, the paint started to chip off from the surface of the bottle. But except that, it's quite a good product.
Diapers: Pampers (图 2)
We prefer this brand than Huggies. Not only because it has better design and is made of softer material, but also because it absorbs better after 3-4 pees.
Crib: (图3) Try to get the crib that is with simple design and can be converted to the day bed later. It’s even better if you could find one with single drop side(easier for you to put in/take out the baby) and trundle drawer underneath for storage(it will save you a lot of space). And keep this question in your mind, too, “Can I put on the mobile on this crib”.
Musical Mobile: (图4，5) We changed three different types of musical mobile for our baby. Don’t get the musical mobile that you have to manually wind up because the music will only last a couple of minutes and then you have to rewind it again. Buy the one with battery power will save your life. It’ll be even better if it comes with the remote control.
Stroller: we recommend you to buy the Graco stroller. Their harness system comes down from the baby’s shoulder, whereas the ones of most other brand stroller only cover the waist. When your baby can sit by himself, he will lean forward often in the stroller. The Graco design is safer for the baby.
Bathtub: (图6，7）our baby has two bathtubs. One is the Safety 1st . We like it because it’s design and it has cloth sling with head support. It’s quite handy when your baby is still too small to handle. Our baby outgrew the bathtub when he was around 6 months. So we started looking for a bigger bathtub for him…..not many choices in the market, but we finally found a perfect one—PrimoEuro bathtub. You can found it at TJ’s Kids (3045 Douglas Street). We just LOVE it!
Salter 2-in-1 Electronic Baby & Toddler Scale: (图8) we were so caring about our baby’s weight after we took him home. This is a good way to know if your baby’s eating well. We redeemed it with the airmiles point from
www.airmiles.ca . It’s not a mandatory for new parents, but if you don’t have it, you can only get to know your baby’s weight when you take him to do the immunization shot.
Bottle Warmer: (图9) we don’t recommend bottle warmer. We tried Avent Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer and it was really no good! This kind of warmer always overheats the bottle. So just go grab a big glass of hot water to warm up the bottle! It’s much faster and cheaper and safer.
Close and Secure Sleeper: （图10）It’s a must have for new parents. It helps keep the baby securely positioned when sleeping in your bed. Both of you can get as much sleep as you can during the night. It will save you from getting out of the bed hundreds of time in the night. Only one con for this product: your baby will outgrow it when he’s only about 2 months.
Baby carrier: （图11，12）We think Baby Bjorn is a good brand for the baby in the first year. It’s comfortable and easy to use. But when your baby is getting bigger and bigger, you might need to change to a bigger carrier with more support, otherwise your back will get hurt. And we will recommend Ergo Baby Carrier.
Breast Pump: （图13）If you do need to use breast pump for baby nursing. I recommend Medela. I used its MiniElectic breast pump and I found it was easy to use, clean and carry. And you got three pumps in one: battery, electric and manual. It’s comfortable to use and doesn’t make noise.
